Today I stood up, through the looks and stars of disbelief and admiration. No tire, no tear of standing near friends to protect and concur great mountains to seem small grains of sand. A land of weird looks shot at me, hissing snakes waking me in sleep. Weep for the weak of a born brave, slave to stars through white skies burning dark. That person is me.
Today I stood up, turned my back on reality, laughing children of six with a mix of blond curls atop small heads. I had read that it's not healthy to be so awhere of your surroundings. To pay attention of every detail, every look on every person's face, every lick of flames through embers of logs. That person is me.
Today I stood up, burned and banished all the people who stared, laughed and pointed at my criss-crossed ankles. My feet went clanking by, on a hot summer's night. And you all stared at me.
Today I walked on, to show that I do not care what you think. I do not care what you see. I do not care what you say and whisper to the person beside you. I am me and there's nothing in the who entire universe that's gonna come even close to changing that...unless you want to be sent to the ER.
Today I am me.

This is a really powerful story. I love the girl's point of view.
